On the third day of the conference, Friday, March 27, prof. Dana Petcu, West University of Timișoara, Romania, will deliver a keynote address entitled “Edge AI: research, technologies and applications”, scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The presentation will take place in the Nicolae Iorga Amphitheater.
Abstract. Edge Artificial Intelligence is a paradigm that integrates AI capabilities directly at the edge of the network, close to where data is generated. It brings a shift in how AI services are deployed and utilized, offering numerous benefits in terms of latency and efficiency. However, addressing the challenges related to resource constraints or scalability is essential for the widespread adoption and success of Edge AI technologies. The research and innovation in this fi eld are paving the way for more advanced and reliable Edge AI applications. This is the case of Edge AI for Earth Observation introduced recently compared with other applications in fields like healtcare, autonomous vehicles, smart cities or industrial IoT. We will introduce and discuss the recent achievements in Edge AI, consistent research themes, and rising research themes. A special attention will be granted to the requirements and solutions for Edge AI for Earth Observation.
